Pastor Lew Cort has been in the ministry for 50+ years.  He served for 30 years at Liberty Baptist Church near Fellows Lake north of Springfield.  Seven years ago at the age of 75, he came out of retirement to accept a call as pastor from Briar Street Baptist Church. Lew has a heart for missions and beside personally making 24 trips to Mexico to preach, teach and assist in building projects, and making 3 trips to India, he has led Briar Street to become a pace setter church with the largest percentage per capita mission giving in the Greene County Baptist Association. Also currently, BSBC gives 29% of it's annual budget to missions.
Pastor B.J. Chapman entered the ministry in 1981.  B.J. came to faith in Christ while serving in the U.S. Navy in 1976.  He graduated from Mid-South Bible College, in Memphis, TN. He did his graduate study at The Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY, and Dallas Theological Seminary. B.J. is largely an expository preacher though also does some topical series. In 2012 B.J. published his first book called THE FIRST TWO THOUSAND YEARS (An Un-Apologetic Examination of Genesis 1-11).

Pastor Chapman has been married to his wife Brenda for 37 years and they have four grown children - Caleb, Jesse, Adrian and Bethany, two daughters-in-laws - Amber and Olivia, one son-in-law - Clayton Taff, and five grandchildren - Ben, Lilly, David, Blair, and Everett.
